The RMS Titanic was the most modern and, with a length of 269.04 metres, also the largest passenger ship of her time. She was considered absolutely unsinkable - a technical masterpiece by the British shipping company White Star Line. In April 1912, the Titanic set off on her maiden voyage from Southampton (England) to New York (USA). She was to cross the Atlantic in record time. But on the night of 14 April 1912, an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland demystified the Titanic myth. The rest is history.
